If this feature was set during installation, the SMA EV charger will only start charging when someone with access to the system via the SMA Energy App gives permission.

This option is called ‘Charge release via app’. If this option wasn't selected during the commissioning, the charging station will simply start charging as soon as the charging cable is plugged into the car. However if this option was selected, the charger must always be unlocked in the app before the charging process starts.

It's smart to have this option checked if the EV charger is easily accessible to people from outside; for example, if the charging station is mounted at the front of the house. Thanks to this extra option, you can prevent others from secretly charging their car with your power when you're not home.
