Sunny Portal SIP option packages

18/05/2016 | Last updated on 30 april 2025

There are various messages that relate to the sending and receiving of data packets by the portal server. Examples include:

  • SIP option packages are not being answered

  • DNS server not configured

  • Default gateway not configured

  • DNS request to registrar.ied.sm is not being answered

These messages are related to the customer's router either passing on or not passing on data packets, and whether the data is being received correctly by the portal server. In the end, the data does come through — otherwise, you wouldn't even see these error messages. So, these are messages that are not relevant to you, only to the SMA developers. We have asked SMA to disable these messages in upcoming firmware updates.

Some background:

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a protocol used for transmitting data over the Internet. The SIP registrar is the recipient of the data.

The DNS server (Domain Name System) functions like a phone book for the Internet. It translates a web address into an IP address.

The gateway is the access point through which information from a local network reaches the Internet. In most households, this is the router.
